What is post-construction cleaning?
Post-construction cleaning is the final clean after a renovation or new build. It removes the fine dust and residue a contractor's cleanup leaves behind, from the inside of new cabinets to the tops of door frames, so the home is ready to live in. Costta's Cleaning Services offers it in Haddonfield, NJ and across South Jersey.
Renovation dust is finer than household dust. It floats, it settles on everything, and it keeps coming back after one pass. New finishes also scratch and stain easily, so this work is as much about method as it is about effort.
What does a post-construction clean include?
We work top to bottom, because dust falls. Each space gets a dry pass first, then a wipe with the right product for the surface.
Fine dust, top to bottom
Door frames, trim, ledges, light fixtures you can reach, baseboards, sills and vents on the outside.
New cabinets and drawers
Inside and out, before your dishes and clothes go in.
Residue and stickers
Labels and light residue on new fixtures, appliances and glass, removed without scratching.
Kitchens and baths
Counters, sinks, tile, showers, mirrors and fixtures, cleaned to suit each material.
Floors
Vacuumed and damp-mopped with the method your new floor needs, and a final pass at the end.
We do not remove construction debris, and we do not offer window washing or carpet and upholstery cleaning. Please have dumpsters, tools and heavy debris out before we arrive.
How we protect new finishes
New stone and new hardwood are at their most vulnerable right after installation. We ask what was installed and when, and then choose the method to suit it.
- Marble and natural stone get a pH-neutral cleaner, because acids can etch them
- New hardwood gets a dry dust mop and a well-wrung microfiber, never a wet mop
- Grout and tile are checked with your installer's guidance on curing
- Stainless steel and brass get their own cloth and product
Renovating an older home in Haddonfield
Many homes in and around the Haddonfield Historic District still have original floors, stairs and trim, and a renovation puts all of them under a layer of dust. We note what is original during the walkthrough, so your team treats old wood differently from new.
Lead dust is a separate matter. If your home was built before 1978, your contractor is responsible for lead-safe work and cleanup under the EPA's Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule. We come in after that work is complete, for the final clean.

How much does post-construction cleaning cost?
Post-construction cleaning is priced by the size of the space and how much dust the work left behind, so a single bathroom costs far less than a whole-home renovation. Costta's Cleaning looks at the project first and gives you a fixed price before we start.
New clients receive 10% off their first service.
What affects your price
- Square footage of the work area
- The kind of work: drywall and sanding leave the most dust
- Whether the rest of the home was sealed off
- Stone, new hardwood and other delicate finishes
- A second visit, if trades return after the clean
Post-construction cleaning: common questions
Still deciding? Call now (609) 592-1836 and we will answer in plain terms.
When should I schedule the final clean?
After the last trade has finished and the tools are out, including painters and floor installers. If anyone is coming back, schedule the clean after that visit.
How long after a renovation does dust settle?
Fine dust can keep settling for days after the work ends. That is why a light second pass can help, and we can quote it with the first.
Does a contractor's cleanup replace this?
Usually not. A contractor's cleanup removes debris and sweeps the work area. A post-construction clean goes through the home surface by surface.
Can you clean around new marble and hardwood?
Yes. Tell us what was installed and when. Marble gets a pH-neutral cleaner, and hardwood gets a well-wrung microfiber rather than a wet mop.
Do you remove construction debris?
No. Debris, dumpsters and leftover materials stay with your contractor. We handle the cleaning once they are out.
Do you work with builders and designers?
Yes. We send a certificate of insurance on request and can coordinate the date with your project schedule.
